In this course, we take our time to build a bust and bring it to life with personality and expression.

We’ll work with shaping the bust, it’s expression, and details, and finally, we’ll hollow out the bust so it’s ready to be fired in the kiln. You can create a bust up to 35 cm in height. You’ll be able to choose between three types of clay and decorate it with colored slips. Please note that the busts will not be glazed. PROGRAM 6th of October, 19:00-22:00 We begin the course with croquis. We’ll sketch both in clay and on paper. After croquis, we’ll build the structural base for the bust using paper balls. 13rd of October, the course is on a break due to the autumn holiday. 20th of October , 19:00-22:00 We begin shaping the bust by applying the first layer of clay onto the foundation from the previous week and start forming the basic structure. 27th of October , 19:00-22:00 You continue working on your bust, adding more detail and personality. 3rd of November, 19:00-22:00 We hollow out the bust and reassemble it so it can be safely fired in the kiln. 10th of November, 19:00-22:00 We decorate the busts using colored slips and put the finishing touches on your piece. Practical info Pris: 1000 kr + 3,75 kr. booking fee. The course runs over five Tuesdays. On the first evening, we meet for croquis and build the structural base for the bust. During the following sessions, we shape and decorate the bust using clay slip. The price includes instruction, 6 kg of clay, slip and firings The ceramics workshop is located on the 3rd floor of Folkehuset Absalon. Unfortunately, there is no elevator. Wear clothes that can get dirty. Our ceramicist will guide you and offer helpful tips along the way, but please note that we cannot guarantee all creations will survive the kiln.
