What is Soulful Intimacy? Eros and intimacy are not about performing or learning to become something you are not already. Quite the contrary! It is about discovering exactly who you truly are and manifesting it generously. The word intimacy comes from the Latin word Intimus, meaning “inmost”, “innermost” or “deepest”. Its root is intus, meaning “within” or “at home”, and the verb intimare meaning “to make known”. Not surprising, but still a relevant reminder of how deep a closeness intimacy really signifies – an act of sharing one’s innermost self, standing in naked truth together with another being. How often are we really intimate (in the literal sense)? How often have we been sharing thoughts, words, kisses and even entered inside another being’s body – without being intimate, without making our innermost self known in the process? The Tantric path is a path of being intimate with life itself! It is based on a profoundly erotic attitude: that only through real fusion can we learn and transform. Thus, intimacy is not only needed for fulfilling bedroom experiences. Intimacy is the key to inner growth, to evolve beyond the hamster wheel of repeating life lessons. We must make our innermost self known to life – through life. And when we do, our soul sings of happiness. Because intimacy is the language of the soul, and the soil in which the soul can blossom.
