A Quiet Moment of Zen Breathing and Japanese Tea Step away from the busyness of everyday life and take a moment to focus on your breath and a cup of tea. We will begin with gentle Zen breathing in a seated, zazen-inspired posture. After settling the body and mind, we will slowly taste high-quality Japanese teas together. Zen practice includes ichigyō-zanmai—devoting oneself fully to a single activity. In this session, we will explore a simple form of this practice through single-minded focus, paying close attention to the aroma, flavour, warmth, and sensations of tea. No previous experience with meditation, zazen, or Japanese tea is needed. Everyone is welcome. Programme Welcome A warm introduction to the session and its intention. Zen breathing practice (ca.25 minutes) Guided Zen breathing in a seated, zazen-inspired posture, followed by time to practise together. \ Tea meditation: single-minded focus (ca.40 minutes) We will then move into the practice of ichigyō-zanmai through Japanese tea, bringing our full attention to each cup and the experience of tasting it. \ Tea, Japanese sweets, and Q&A (20-30min) We will close by enjoying tea and a small Japanese sweet together, with time for questions and conversation.
